Arrr it's time for some rest....

This is the picture of Thai traditional massage or as Thai people usually referred to as “nuad-pan-Thai.” There are many reasons I chose this picture is because even though there are countless types of massage in this world but I believe that Thai massage is one of the most famous and one of the most unique types of massage. Thus, it is one of the first things that Thai people as well as foreigners would think of when they hear the word “Thailand.” The Thai massage itself was being to adapt many countries in the world due to the comfort it provides. What is interesting in this picture is that from the picture, it shows how Thai massage involve a movement that looks both gentle and give you comfort as you can see from the customer’s face but yet it is also solid as the massager hits the women’s back. In addition, this picture provides contrasting ideas about Thai society since the modern Thai are developing through new technologies especially the hospitality areas where there are many new medicines and equipment to cure/heal the diseases, but surprisingly this Thai massage does not dissolve away but rather increases its influence to the Thai society gradually. In conclusion, I believe that the evidence of Thai massage change the belief that many of us hold about how Thai culture are always under the influences of other culture but rather we are also a big influencer to other cultures. In some way Thai massage is a great example to show how we love our country as well and how we Thai people do also admire to what history had bought us to become who we are.

We love Shopping!

This is the picture of Chatuchak Weekend Market or commonly known as “JJ Market.” It is the biggest market in Thailand and indeed one of the largest weekend markets of the world. JJ Market opens only on Saturday and Sunday and sells almost everything you could ever imagine such as food, cheap stylish clothing (mostly from Thai/local brands), accessories, candles, furniture, Buddha amulets, old books, trees, plants, and Thai souvenirs. This picture inspires me because this place is one of the destinations I had visited very often as far as I could remember and I bet that the majority of Thais would have visited JJ Market at least once. It portrays the Thai lifestyle that we Thai people love to go shopping for cheap and good items. Anywhere there is cheap stuff; there will be a mass crowd of Thai people. This market not only reflected Thai people’s shopping craze, but this place also becomes a very famous tourist attractions. Whenever I went there, I would always see a huge crowd of tourist worldwide especially Chinese and Europeans. If the tourist visit this place, I’m sure that these people will see everything that is Thai because once you arrive at JJ, you are able to find Thai souvenirs, try Thai food, and watch Thai shows such as Thai dance (lots of Thai performance are made along the streets in JJ market), as well as Thai smiles and greetings from the sellers which made Chatuchak a good place for tourists to absorb the authentic Thai life. Each day there will be over 200,000 visitors visiting this market. Therefore, in my opinion I believe that this market is not like any market that sell various items, but when the word “JJ Market” come up in my head, it shows how this market act as a symbol of Bangkok.

♥ Fit and Firm ♥

This is the picture of me and my friend in the fitness center. This picture inspires me because it affects me directly. I think that it represents the culture of the modern Thai society especially to Bangkok city people and me since I am now a member of two fitness places throughout the last two years. Nowadays, the fitness centre and sport clubs business have grown very fast evidently during these last two to three years as you can see that these big and small fitness centers are around every corners of the city! Surprisingly the businesses are still expanding. Thus, these places grew at an exponential rate because of the change of ideology for Thai city people. Many city people now become aware of their health and want to be slim and have a good appearance. I think that a lot of people including me believe that to fulfill our lives, work is not the only task we should do but going to the gym as well. However, with the limitation of the competitive lifestyle and other factors like the availability of time, fitness centre stand as the best option which matches both our wants to reward our body and self and to suits the lifestyle of Thai people.

Rice Rice Rice!

This is a picture of the Thai rice section at Paragon Gourmet Market. I chose this picture because it truly depicts Thai culture which reflected Thai culture from the old days until the present day. This array display of various kinds of Thai rice (especially jasmine rice) not only represent how Thai becomes the main exporter of rice but more importantly when I saw the gigantic amount of rice it symbolizes that wherever you are, which ever region you live in, or even which class you belong, rice is surely an important part of Thai lifestyles. We consume rice everyday in every meal and it has become mundane that sometimes you even forget the importance of it. Thus, when looking at this picture seeing the large pile of rice, it makes me flashback to think about how much every Thais including me have consume rice for my entire life and creates a feeling that we should finish our rice for every meals and give more values to this important part of our Thai life.
